Solo Date at Sprinkles Cakeshop & Restaurant by Mhay's Kitchen

This isn't my first time to have a Solo date or a date by myself and I'm pretty comfortable with it. Though it would be better if I had a friend to chat with but since our schedule won't fit and I really want to go out the result will be Solo date. In my own opinion I find that Solo date gives me that independent feeling like I get to decide where to go, what to do, what eat and how long it will be.

For the pass few month this now cake shop and restaurant have been catching my eyes every time I pass it on my way home and going to work. So I made it a point that I will go there and eat. How will I describe the place from the outside, well it's simple but not boring it's actually inviting and once you go inside you would see different decorations from walls to ceiling displaying how creative the owner is. The venue really looks good and refreshing. A crafty place wherein you could get attach with your inner artist. I would say that this is Kodak friendly place. You would just want to have pictures in every corner. I saw in their Facebook page that there was even a pre-wedding pictorial there. For me it was a good place to stay and just be myself. Sprinkles is located at Philippine Chinese Academy Bldg., Arellano, 2400 Dagupan City, Pangasinan (across Sony Center) because it is near my place transportation wouldn’t be a problem. Even though it is not located at the center of the city you would still find it convenient because downtown jeeps makes a U-turn pass that area so people from the city would just need to take 1 ride to go there and nearby town people will take 2 rides.

They serve different kinds of food from paste to rice meals and cakes. I personal make blueberry cheesecake with my older sister and sell them to my friends and co-workers, having said this it's pretty obvious that I ordered a blueberry cheesecake and see if it reaches my standards. I honestly think my blueberry cheesecake taste better. There was no aftershock taste in the cheesecake which I always look for when we make blueberry cheesecakes. However, I really loved the whip cream on top definitely tasty and delicious. The crust was also good, well intact. I'm not good in making crust in my blueberry cheesecake I'm still trying to improve it. I stop eating the cheesecake for a while to write my blog while the ideas are still fresh and to watch the movie they were showing on the television "Everyday, I love you". Then I ate the cheesecake again and believe it or not, it kinda tasted better. Maybe the cream cheese wasn't well mixed so it tasted like that. Overall I would say the cheesecake was good compared to the cheesecakes that I tasted in other cakes shops. It wasn’t jelly or foamy, it was just right.

I would give them an astonishing remark on their accommodation to think that I was almost closing time when I went there. They turn on the television so I could watch something. They do little acts of kinds like giving water, turning on the electric fan and making sure you are comfortable. They were so nice to take picture of me, not just once but several times. And little did I know that one of the ladies that took my picture was actually the owner. I only found out when I check their page. Truly an image on how humble the owner is. While I was there, they were still talking about ways on how to improve the place which was very impressive because seeing the place right now was already awesome.

The owner took this picture for me. Thank you.
She also took this one and some other. She was nice also her crew.
To sum it all up, YES! I would go back there whether I’m alone or with my friends. I would try their other meals maybe pasta next time. Try it for yourself and be the judge. The place is easy to find just ride any Bonuan or Downtown jeep.

The Famous Magboul Shawarma

I'm not exactly sure how long Magboul have been in the business but they sure make the best beef and chicken shawarma in Dagupan City. They have only one branch, it’s located at 371 McArthur H-way Tapuac Dist.,Dagupan City. The place is quite small and hardly ran out of people; it just goes to show how good the food is.

They are famous for their beef shawarma but I choose to eat the chicken shawarma with rice and cabbage. This is a personal choice, I tried their beef shawarma and it taste great but since I had my brace I choose not to eat beef. Another good thing about Magboul is that they make their own sauce, you could actually see them preparing every ingredient, and I truly love the garlic sauce and hot sauce, best combination ever. I don’t know how to describe the exact taste of the shawarma, it spicy, creamy with just the right amount of tenderness unquestionably delicious. The price would range from 50 to 85 pesos, good enough even for people on a budget like me.

While you’re there you could see the owner of the shop. Sometimes asking orders or preparing the table for you. They are really hands on with the business. I admire people who act like leaders and not bosses.
So come on what are you waiting for? Go out and have taste of the unquestionably delicious Magboul Shawarma. If there are too many people, it’s a sign on how scrumptious the food is. Just think that you can always have it take out and enjoy it at home like I do. It will all be worth it, believe me.
